Three Distinct Sanctuaries

Each room at Lonpo Heritage House has its own character its own light, its own view, its own particular feeling of having arrived somewhere that was made with care. None of them are the same. None of them try to be.

A Quiet Approach

Choose by mood, not by category.

Shelkhang for those who want space wide rooms, high ceilings, and the kind of quiet that asks nothing of you. Thokkar for those who feel most at home where the room opens onto something living  a garden, a breeze, the slow pace of a Ladakhi morning. Rabsal for those who want everything the house has to offer, arranged around them with care and without fuss.

Whichever you choose, the welcome is the same. The attention is the same. Only the view changes and in Ladakh, the view is always worth it.

Premium Heritage Room

SHELKHANG

"Space to breathe. Light to wake up to. Mountains to come back for."

Shelkhang is where Lonpo Heritage House is most itself.

The room is generous in every sense wide enough to feel like your own apartment, warm enough to feel like someone’s home. Traditional Ladakhi architectural details run through it: thick walls that hold the warmth, small-paned windows that frame the light rather than flood it, and interiors that draw from local craftsmanship rather than catalogue furniture.

Mornings here are unhurried. Breakfast arrives at whatever hour suits you. The view from the window mountain ridgelines softening into the Igoo valley below earns a few minutes of standing still before the day begins.

This is the room for those who have waited a long time for a proper rest. We’ve made sure it delivers.

Ambience Line: Warm. Still. The kind of room you don’t want to leave and don’t have to.

Deluxe Heritage Room

Thokkar

A room where the garden is never far from mind — or reach."

There is a particular pleasure to a room that opens directly onto something green and alive. Thokkar was designed around exactly that.

The room flows naturally onto its private garden terrace a sheltered pocket of the property where the mornings are cool and fragrant, the afternoons catch the sun at the right angle, and the evenings settle into the kind of quiet that Igoo village does better than almost anywhere.

Inside, the room is warm and considered: Ladakhi textiles on the bed, natural materials throughout, a rain shower that earns its description, and a reading nook that has made more than a few guests miss dinner entirely.

Thokkar is a favourite in the warmer months, when the garden is fully alive, and again in early autumn, when the light over the valley turns amber and everything slows down even further.

If you tend to spend your mornings slowly, this is your room.

Signature Suite

Rabsal

"The finest room in the house — and in Ladakh, that means something."

Rabsal is not simply a larger room. It is a different kind of stay.

At 68 sqm, it is the most generous space in Lonpo Heritage House with a separate living area, a soaking tub, and a level of personal attention that makes the room feel arranged specifically for you rather than simply available to you.

The suite draws deeply from Ladakhi heritage craftsmanship: handwoven textiles, carved wooden details, locally sourced stone finishes, and a warmth that comes not from an interior design brief but from a genuine commitment to the place this house sits in. Nothing here was chosen casually. Everything has a reason.

The view is the room’s quiet signature mountain ridgelines and the rooftops of Igoo village below, seen best from the living area at dusk when the light turns the stone a particular shade of gold that no photograph has yet managed to capture accurately.

Rabsal comes with personalised butler service not as a luxury add-on, but as the way we believe this suite should be experienced. Your meals, your schedule, your requests, your mornings: arranged around you, not around our convenience.

For those celebrating something an anniversary, a milestone, a moment that deserves a room that matches it Rabsal is the answer.
